Ear Ring

Here is another lesson piece. I used 2 quartz stones as the focal pieces and tiny Citrine stones and a couple of Indian glass beads within the bead soup.

The ear rings are a pair but they are not meant to be identical. It is a free from weaving exercise

A Baroque Bracelet

This is a very fancy bracelet for me with lots of frills but I like wearing it. It has some weight to it.

It has peyote stitch base with lots of loops and additions on top. The beads came in a kit with few instructions. I made up the basic style myself. I love the colors. The cream/white beads are actually more peachy than cream. I probably used 20 feet to thread to make this!

I wear it with the leaves up and the big loops facing down.

You can barely see the tiny freshwater pearl "flowers" near the large beaded flower. The large end clasp is one of my glass beads from India.

I like this loop but it is a tiny big. I may have to add a bead or two to make it smaller.

A Question about Color

I have a lovely scarf that I want to use as inspiration for a necklace. But when I take close-up photos of it, with the flash or without the flash, I get different colors. The results are interesting, so I will share them here.

The Scarf

Basically, the scarf is woven loosely on a green base shown above. But there is red-pink, light blue, violet and yellow as well. When I take a "normal" photo, the green background turns a kind of yellow-green, when in reality it looks more like the above detail of the fringe.

With Flash

Without flash

The above two photos are taken of the same area. The actual color is more like the one with the flash, the center "flower" looks more green in "real" life. But the reds seem to show truer in the one without the flash - when you are looking at them in close up, otherwise they look like the one with the flash. It is hard to see, but there is an under weave of the green thread though out the whole piece that only really shows up in a flash. Interesting.

Wave Bracelet

The Wave Bracelet, of course, I have changed the color from what was suggested. See the inspirational photo above of a volcano in Hawaii, glistening brown earth with a slight covering of green growth. Sorry about the bad quality of the photo. I shot it off the TV at an angle.... So the concept is a little different, instead of waves of water, I have little areas of life clinging to the mountain side.

You can see that the beads made a wave within the stitching. This is another lesson from the Beaded Colorways Book.

Rippled Netting Bracelet

I changed the colors from what was suggested because I didn't have those colors. Also, I sort of like this better.

I didn't really get a good ripple. I have to make another one and see what happens.
